How do we act on the buy and sell signals ourselves?
We trade the day after a market day signal as soon as prices are available for OMXS30 Futures, at around 9am (CET). I.e. If we get a signal on Friday we trade on Monday. When we take a position we always buy/sell the instrument with shortest delivery date but at least two months away.
What trading frequency can I expect?
The system is not intended to be used for day- or weekly trading. During the test period, on all markets, there were on average about one trading signal a month.
How are the results calculated?
All results are presented for the stated time period and not as a annual rate. Interests rates, taxes and fees are not included. The result of each trade is presented one by one. The total result for the stated time period is of course calulated as compound interest. The results in Our Portfolio are calculated in the same way.
How do I choose the appropiate strategy?
Both. This is our default strategy. Using this strategy means that you are always exposed to the market. If you have a long position and get a sell signal from the system, you first sell (close) the position and then take a short position. The same logic applies of course if you start with a short position. In the long term this is the most profitable strategy.
Buy/Sell. This strategy means that you only take long positions - buy to enter and sell to exit. Use this strategy if you are convinced on rising stock markets (for at least 2-3 months) or if you expect a significant upturn.
Sell/Buy. This strategy means that you only take short positions - sell to enter and buy back to exit. Use this strategy if you are convinced on falling stock markets (for at least 2-3 months) or if you expect a significant downturn.
What does Buy/Hold mean?
It is the selected stock market's performance during the time period.
When should I close a position
We advice you to always close a position if you feel insecure about it.
When should I take a position
Here we suggest that you follow the signals given by the ATH-index and your current strategy. The system is designed to find the right entry point and thus avoiding the herd. ”Everyone” is strongly positive – your limit says – sell. ”Everyone” is strongly negative – buy.
Even if you don't intend to use the buy and signals strictly, you can use the ATH-index to find the right time to take a position, especially when you are under pressure to act.
